Michael Stamps, MD


Pediatrician Michael Stamps, MD, grew up in Phoenix during the years that it transformed from a small town into one of the largest cities in the U.S. He graduated with honors from the University of Arizona and earned his medical degree at Texas Tech University. 


A love for kids and the joy of watching them grow from newborns to adults is what drew him to pediatrics. His roots at Phoenix Children’s go back many years. He was a resident with the Phoenix Hospitals Affiliated Pediatric Program back when Phoenix Children's first became a reality. Now as a doctor practicing at Phoenix Children’s, he feels thrilled to be part of “something great.”


His special interests include attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), asthma and infectious diseases.


Dr. Stamps and his wife, who also a physician, have three grown sons. Outside the hospital, Dr. Stamps loves playing golf – especially with his boys, daughter-in-law and granddaughter. He also enjoys fly fishing and tennis.



Melissa Redleaf, MD


Pediatrician Melissa Redleaf, MD, is a native New Yorker who has made the Phoenix area and home since 1994. Dr. Redleaf believes there are many ways for children to learn and think and "loves seeing patients develop their true passions and potential." 


Dr Redleaf attended college and medical school at Washington University and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital. 


Dr. Redleaf provides inclusive care that respects and honors patients' differences. She enjoys caring for children and adolescents, with a focus on those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism. She has a passion for mental health and suicide prevention and serves as an advisor to Kid in the Corner. She's also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics – Arizona Chapter adolescent committee. 


Dr. Redleaf is married with two adult children. She is a dance fitness addict who also enjoys learning about the world and people through reading, film, theater, travel and experiences.


Kathryn Newby, DO


Taking care of the Valley's children was always a dream for pediatrician Kathryn Newby, DO. The Arizona native and Arizona State University graduate attended medical school in Glendale at Midwestern University. After completing her residency and a year as chief resident at the University of Iowa, Dr. Newby escaped the snow and returned home to join Paradise Pediatrics in Scottsdale. 


Dr. Newby has a passion for newborn wellness, breastfeeding medicine and adolescent health. She's a vaccine advocate as well. “Kids are the future, and if we can promote healthy lifestyles and habits at a young age, hopefully, those habits will carry with them for life.” 


She loves spending time with her husband, an anesthesiologist, and two children in her free time. They enjoy outdoor activities and baking.


Vinay Kwatra, DO


Vinay M. Kwatra, DO, is a pediatrician providing primary care for newborns through young adults. Dr. Kwatra is committed to preventative care and vaccination to help keep children healthy – a belief reinforced through his additional pediatric emergency and urgent care experience.


Dr. Kwatra is an Iowa native and Drake University graduate. He earned his medical degree from Des Moines University and completed his residency at Henry Ford Hospital. Dr. Kwatra worked as a hospitalist and in urgent care at Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and in pediatric emergency with Honor Healthcare. 


When he's not working, Dr. Kwatra values spending time with his wife and son and traveling. He's a sports fan who enjoys attending and playing all types of sports, as well as a cook who loves trying new foods. 


Sara V. Kertz, DO


Sara Kertz, DO, was born in St. Louis and used her education as an opportunity to see different areas of the United States. After graduating with honors from the University of Rochester.


Dr. Kertz worked as a microbiologist before attending Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. After a pediatric internship at Oklahoma State University, Dr. Kertz completed a pediatric residency where she knew she wanted to put down roots – in Phoenix.


Dr. Kertz loves that pediatrics is a family affair. "I can encourage and guide not only my young patients to live healthy and happy lives, but their families too," Dr. Kertz says. "It really does take a village – we are in this together!" She has a special interest in wellness and support for newborns through adolescence.


In her free time, Dr. Kertz enjoys spending time outdoors and playing games with her two sons, her husband and their poodle. She also enjoys traveling and cooking.
